Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Chelsea only have 15 players available for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Sunday.
Despite spending another £400million in the summer, Todd Boehly’s expensive squad has crumbled under the weight of injury problems in recent weeks. Pochettino may turn to some of his youth players just to get a full matchday squad.
Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Armando Broja, Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile are among the high-profile absentees.
Pochettino did reveal that James, who suffered a hamstring injury in training just days after their draw with Liverpool, is nearing a return.
The Blues come into their showdown with the Cherries off the back of a shock defeat to Nottingham Forest. Their only league win of the season came against Luton – with Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson all scoring in a 3-0 triumph for the London side.

So how could Chelsea line-up against Bournemouth with only 15 players fit?
Robert Sanchez is expected to start from the off against the Cherries this weekend. The Spaniard, who signed from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer, has conceded five goals in his first four games for the Blues.
In defence, Axel Disasi looks set to start yet again on the right side of the back three for Pochettino’s side. The Frenchman got off to the perfect start, scoring on his debut against Liverpool, but has looked slightly shaky at the back since,
Thiago Silva is once again expected to feature in the heart of Chelsea’s defence. The ever-present Brazilian could be fighting for his place in the starting eleven soon, with Benoit Badiashile nearing a return to first team action.
Levi Colwill enjoyed a remarkable campaign while on loan at Brighton last season. After returning to Chelsea in the summer, the young centre back has start every Premier League game and is likely to play a key role on Sunday.
In Reece James’ absence, Malo Gusto has filled in for the young English defender. While he has looked a bit uncomfortable at times, Chelsea fans need to be aware that this is his first season in the Premier League.
Enzo Fernandez has been a joy to watch since he signed for the club from Benfica back in January. The midfielder, who won the World Cup with Argentina last year, has been the club’s star player since he signed – with the 22-year-old hoping to inspire the Blues to their second league win of the season this weekend.
Moises Caicedo, like Disasi, is another player who signed for the club this summer. The midfielder, who put pen-to-paper on an eight-year deal in August, will be hoping to start showing what he is capable of after a poor outing against Forest before the international break.
Ben Chilwell has received a lot of criticism this season. The 26-year-old has struggled for form in Chelsea’s first few games and has looked a real passenger at times. However, on his day, he is arguably one of the top defenders in the league, with the Blues fans hoping he can deliver this weekend.

Cole Palmer is in line to make his first Chelsea start this weekend following his summer arrival
Raheem Sterling has been one of Chelsea top performers so far. The winger has shown glimpses of what he is capable of this season. Sterling, who netted twice against Luton, will itching to impress from the off on Sunday.
After signing from Manchester City this summer, Cole Palmer looks set to make his first Chelsea start. The young Englishman came on during the Blues’ defeat to Forest and showed promising signs. Palmer will have a real point to prove after struggling for minutes at the Etihad.
Nicolas Jackson is expected to lead the line for Chelsea this weekend. The forward, who joined the London side in the summer, has shown bright sparks in his early days for the Blues. His only goal for the club so far came in their win over Luton at Stamford Bridge.
