Chelsea star Ian Maatsen has been seen pledging his loyalty to the club as he says ‘I’m still here’ in a behind-the-scenes video on deadline day.

The youngster rejected the chance to return to Burnley on a season-long loan with a £31.5million obligation to buy on Friday.

Chelsea accepted Burnley’s bid but Maatsen was keen to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place under Mauricio Pochettino.

And now a video has been released on Twitter showing Maatsen as news broke of Burnley’s bid.

Sitting on his sofa watching Sky Sports News, the camera pans to Maatsen after news of Burnley’s bid with the left-back saying: ‘I’m still here, up the Blues!’

It was a fairly quiet day for Chelsea in the end, who completed the signing of Cole Palmer from Manchester City in the morning.

Cobham graduates Maatsen, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah were all heavily linked with moves away but the trio remained beyond the deadline.

Gallagher had interest from Tottenham, while Chalobah was subject of a bid from Nottingham Forest and further loan interest from Bayern Munich.

However, the players all remained at Stamford Bridge as the window slammed shut, with Maatsen watching the drama unfold on deadline day as he refused to return to Vincent Kompany’s side.

It remains to be seen as to where the youngster will play under Pochettino, having been used in an attacking role in pre-season and against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night.

Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella will provide competition at left-back to Maatsen, with Chelsea doing well to cut their squad down in the summer already.
