After apprehending a burglar, a local person went to the police station for assistance and found the police officer sleeping.
Watching cellphone footage of the incident, residents are furious and want the Algoa Park police station to be shut down.

According to the local newspaper The Republican, the video was enough to initiate an internal investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Department.
However, this is a one-off incident. Smartphone recordings or photographs of officers sleeping on the job are floating all over social media platforms.
The video attracted millions of views and comments, with one Youtube user saying, “That is a major embarrassment.” We gave them money so they could fall asleep on the job while milking the clock.

Requests for comment on the video’s internal investigation were not immediately answered by the Massachusetts State Police Department.
The police department in Dover, Delaware launched an investigation into two officers who were photographed sleeping on the job and circulated on social media sites in August.
“We are actively investigating the circumstances behind this problem, and necessary corrective action will be taken in short order,” the department said in a statement at the time.
However, a recent video has gone viral, and the police department could take action as a result of it.
In the year 2020, a police officer in Kansas City was captured on camera sleeping in his patrol car while waiting in a traffic lane at 4:00 a.m.
The cop, on the other hand, informed the person filming him that he was performing a detailed job and that he was in fact on duty.
In the year 2019, a cop in Baltimore was exposed to similar scrutiny after a video taken by a citizen and shared on Instagram went viral.
