Manchester United have opened talks with Chelsea over the signing of Mason Mount.
The Blues academy graduate has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford, with Mount’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expiring next summer.
talkSPORT understands the England star has already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.
Now, Man United have officially approached Chelsea to try and agree a fee.
Mount is keen to make the move to Old Trafford, which would see him leave the club he’s been with since 2005.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in the 24-year-old, but the England international now looks set on a move to United.
However, the Blues could demand as much as £80million for Mount.
But according to The Sun, Mount’s Three Lions teammate could be included in United’s offer to help bridge the gap closer to Chelsea’s asking price.
Red Devils captain Harry Maguire has fallen down manager Erik ten Hag’s pecking order at Old Trafford and he is understood to be valued at around £30million.
It remains to be seen whether new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino would want to add another defender to his already bloated squad.
But Pochettino was once interested in signing the centre-back from Hull during his time at Tottenham, with Maguire going on to move to Leicester City instead.
Man United face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup this Saturday – live on talkSPORT – and should Ten Hag’s side lift another trophy, it’ll likely make a move to Old Trafford even more attractive to Mount.
