Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has reinjured his right calf during Cincinnati’s latest loss of the new NFL season, just over a week after signing a record, $275million, five-year deal to become the league’s highest-paid player.

The 26-year-old told reporters that his calf feels ‘pretty sore right now’ and that he is going ‘to wait and see how it feels’ over the next couple of days following Sunday’s 27-24 home loss to the Ravens, according to NFL Network’s James Palmer.

Burrow completed 27 of his 41 passing attempts (65.9 percent) for 222 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against Baltimore – a far better stat line than his mere 82 passing yards for no touchdowns against the Browns in Week 1. He was even benched towards the end of the game against Cleveland.

Burrow was seen limping to the sideline and using a massage gun to keep his calf loose after throwing a touchdown to Tee Higgins in the last minutes of the fourth quarter against Baltimore.

The injury was so bothersome to Burrow that backup quarterback Jake Browning got off the bench to start warming up.

The Ravens, however, managed to get a pair of first downs and ran out the clock so Burrow and the remainder of Cincinnati’s offense didn’t make it back on the gridiron.

After the home loss, Burrow was heard shouting in frustration as he made his way back to the locker room while limping, according to Fox 19’s Joe Danneman.

The former No. 1 draft pick inked his newest, nine-figure contract earlier this month, with $219M guaranteed.

Remarkably, the deal provide Burrow with a record-breaking $55M average annual salary.

‘I have always been pretty good at compartmentalizing things that are important to me,’ said Burrow just a day before the Bengals’ season-opening loss to the Browns, insisting that negotiations for his big, recent payday weren’t a distraction of what’s to come from Cincinnati this year.

‘I work really hard to perform well on the field and think a lot about how I handle myself and how I can be the best me for this organization. So to be rewarded for it means a lot to me — but (there’s) a lot more to do.’

Burrow, who is in his fourth NFL season with the Bengals, has reversed Cincinnati’s fortunes since coming into the league in 2020, leading the franchise to two straight AFC North titles and a Super Bowl appearance in 2021.

The former Louisiana State University (LSU) quarterback will now be hoping to be fit in time for the Bengals’ next game against the Los Angeles Rams on September 25.
