Penrith star Jaeman Salmon HITS BACK at Ricky Stuart labelling him a ‘weak-gutted dog’ last year, by mouthing the same three words to camera after scoring during his side’s drubbing of the Raiders… as fans hail his epic spray!

  • Jaeman Salmon was labelled a ‘weak-gutted dog’ by Raiders coach Ricky Stuart
  • The comment was said in August last year and created significant controversy
  • Salmon continued the bad blood as he hit back at Stuart in Friday night’s clash

NRL star Jaeman Salmon sensationally hit back at Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart as he celebrated after scoring in Penrith Panthers’ 53-12 thrashing of the Raiders.

The pair were marred in controversy last year when Stuart labelled Salmon a ‘weak-gutted dog’ after the Panthers won a clash between the teams in August.

Stuart had hit out at Salmon after he had kicked hooker Tom Starling during the game and was eventually handed an unprecedented one-match ban and $25,000 (£13,500) fine over the comments. Stuart then apologised for the forum in which he made them.

At the time, the Raiders coach claimed he had history with Salmon, with suggestions it dated back to a family matter from junior days in Cronulla.

After the incident, there was also a suggestion Stuart lashed out after Salmon reportedly made derogatory comments directed at the Raiders coach’s autistic daughter – something the 24-year-old vehemently denied.

And now, during a clash between the teams on Friday night, Salmon appeared to get his own back at Stuart.

As he put the ball down to score a 79th-minute try during the drubbing, Salmon mouthed ‘weak-gutted dog’ to the cameras in an apparent dig at Stuart for his comments last year.

Fans were loving his yarn at the coach as one said: ‘Fair play can’t say Stuart didn’t deserve that spray.’

Another added: ‘Cannot beat that celebration’, while a further user said: ‘That’s so great.’

A fourth supporter simply said: ‘So good!’

Back in the summer, Salmon had explained how he was caught completely off-guard by the whole affair.

He had told AFP: ‘It was a bit of a shock. I’ve never heard that before. But I am not worried about that now.

‘I heard about it (the accusations of making derogatory comments about Salmon’s autistic daughter) at the game. What Rick said is up to him.

‘It has nothing to do with his autistic daughter. I won’t comment on what happened.’

In the aftermath of Stuart’s tirade, Salmon revealed he was considering legal action and thanked Penrith for standing by his side.

‘The club has always been supportive of me, and of any player in positions like that. I can’t thank the club enough.’

Penrith went onto win the NRL Grand Final last year – their fourth title in history – and currently sit in third place in the NRL table this season after four games.
