Erling Haaland was born in Leeds to an athletic family. Coming from athletic family background, it is no surprise that Erling was exposed to sports at a young age.

When Erling was three years old, his father Alfie was working his trade in the Premier League in Leeds. This forced the Haaland family to move to Bryne in southern Norway.

His former athlete father has previously name-checked several clubs which he considered before eventually opting for City. Six other clubs remain as possibilities and could be the next destination for his son.

Erling Haaland’s parents, Alfie aka Alf-Inge Haaland and Gry Marita Braut, were both athletes. While his mother was a heptathlete, his father was a professional footballer who played as a right-back or midfielder.

Alfie’s notable performance includes playing in the Premier League with Nottingham and Manchester City. Alfie won 34 caps for Norway during his football days and later retired on July 1, 2013, from his last club Rosseland BK.

According to The Sun, Alfie moved the family back to Bryne in southwest Norway after retirement due to a knee injury. He then served on the local council.

That does not mean that Erling’s mother is someone ordinary, as she was a national champion heptathlete in the 1990s in Norway. Gry Marita also participated in track and field, a sport that had seven events.

Alf-Inge has been noted as a key player in his son’s career path and has hinted at several more movements for the striker. Alf-Inge disclosed that he made sure his son would test himself in a host of sports and learn what better suits him.

Growing up in a sporting family, he had early exposure to sports. His parents used to take him to athletics so he could test himself and better explore various sports before opting for football.

As revealed by his dad, Erling played athletics, handball, and cross-country skiing till he turned 14, and his Norway’s handball manager wanted him to play handball. But Erling decided to choose football and signed up with Bryne FK, where his dad’s dreams took off.

Erling Haaland, age 22, was born in the UK on July 21, 2000. About his height, the athlete stands tall at 1.95 meters which is around 6 feet 4 inches.

The Man City player was raised in the town of Bryne from the age of three, and that’s the place where he discovered his own sporting prowess. Being a natural athlete, Haaland showed excellence in various sports while growing up.

And the incredible part is the International Age Records notes that he still holds a world record for the longest standing jump ever recorded by a five-year-old.

Erling Haaland has two siblings, brother Astor Haaland and an older sister Gabrielle “Gabi” Halland.

Unlike him, his brother and sister have somewhat less influence on sports. As per the online reports, his sister Gabrielle works in the medical field as an associate.

His brother, Astor Haaland, has been dating Thea Vigre since 2020. Based on his Instagram, Astor is a lover of all things sports. He loves fishing, skiing, and wrestling.

Aside from his biological siblings, Erling also has two younger sisters from his father’s side.

Erling Haaland is not married and thus has no wife. However, the same thing can not be inferred about his girlfriend.

According to Daily Star, he once claimed that he had five girlfriends and labeled them as the reason for his success. Everyone was shocked until they knew that it was a joke and that the girlfriend he referred to was his five hat-trick balls.

Haaland said in an interview that he sleeps with the five balls for each hat-trick he scored and lies in bed and feels good with them. Likewise, he also revealed that he looks at them daily and that they are his girlfriends.
