Spurs fans continue their campaign against Ange Postecoglou becoming Tottenham manager: ‘They won’t respect him, they won’t give him time, they won’t allow him to play Ange Ball’

  • Some Spurs fans started #NoToAnge campaign in May
  • Despite protests the Aussie is set to be named manager
  • Disgruntled fans are continuing their campaign anyway

Nothing but formalities stand between Aussie Ange Postecoglou taking over as manager at Tottenham next Premier League season, but a pocket of disgruntled Spurs fans are still rallying against him.

After securing five trophies in two years with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, the former Socceroos boss has earned his place at the big table and is expected to take over at the club.

Postecoglou’s appointment will come after the team parted ways with Antonio Conte and then failed to secure the signatures of Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso and German coach Julian Nagelsmann, who is in talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

Postecoglou is no stranger to being a secondary choice, as he was only recruited by Celtic after their unsuccessful attempt to secure a deal with Eddie Howe. Instead, Howe went on to sign with Newcastle United.

As excitement grows regarding Postecoglou’s potential move to Spurs, not all of their fans are enthusiastic about his possible arrival.

Towards the end of May, the hashtags #NoToAnge and #NOTOPOSTECOGLOU emerged, with several fans expressing their apprehension concerning the potential appointment.

Celtic supporters were also doubtful in 2021, but the Australian coach quickly gained their approval as victories, goals and championships followed.

However, turning things around at Tottenham may prove to be more challenging for Postecoglou, as he will likely need to persuade another group of fans that he is the man to turn things around.

Even as his appointment increasingly becomes a fait accomplis, a sector of Spurs fans continue the #NoToAnge campaign along with a push for the removal of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

‘I’m done. I refuse to celebrate this abject mediocrity. Someone let me know once Levy has sold up and then I’ll come back. #NoToAnge #NoToPostecoglou #LevyOut #ENICOut,’ one fan Tweeted.

‘He ain’t good enough for global giants Tottingham Hotspurs #notoange #gettrending,’ posted another.

‘Day 8 of asking @SpursOfficial to appoint [Argentine manager] Marcelo Gallardo as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur. He will bring us great glory,’ added another.

‘Who even is Ange Postecoglou? Not good enough for Spurs imho – let him stay at Celtic,’ asked another.

Even some Celtic supporters are rallying against the move because they believe Postecoglou is destined to fail.

‘They won’t respect him, they won’t give him time, they won’t allow him to play Ange Ball. He leaves with love but we all know what’s gonna happen,’ one fan posted.

The 57-year-old built an outstanding career during his tenure in Australia and Japan, earning significant trophies with Brisbane Roar and Yokohama F. Marinos, before finally joining Celtic Park in June 2021.

Despite facing criticism, he has successfully secured consecutive Scottish Premiership titles. The most recent championship victory was sealed with a 5-0 triumph over Aberdeen.

Then the Aussie sealed two seasons of dominance with the Scottish treble on the weekend with victory in the Scottish Cup.

His appointment as Tottenham coach is expected to be made official this week, hashtags or no hashtags.
