West Ham vs Dallas United suspended after ‘player used the n-word at Anton Ferdinand’ in The Soccer Tournament in North Carolina as American team launches investigation

West Ham’s game against Dallas United at The Soccer Tournament was suspended on Thursday night when the English team walked off after allegations of racism.

According to The Athletic, a Dallas player used the n-word at West Ham’s Anton Ferdinand. It has also been claimed that West Ham want Dallas disqualified from the tournament.

Clips surfaced on social media of Ferdinand looking visibly irate and telling one opponent: ‘Why are you looking at me for? I’ll punch you up.’ In another, he says to an opposition player: ‘I am here to set a precedent, now.’

A statement on the competition’s Twitter account said: ‘The match between West Ham United & Dallas United has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of use or intent to use a racial slur.

‘TST has zero tolerance towards racial abuse, and take these allegations very seriously.

Dallas said in a statement: ‘Dallas United has launched an internal investigation into the allegations made by our opponent.

‘We will issue a statement in the near future. We are cooperating fully with The Soccer Tournament and their investigation in the interim.’

West Ham were losing 2-0 at the time the incident occurred and it appears the game had got heated between the two teams.

Clips on Twitter show some hard challenges being made by West Ham players but it is unclear if this was directly in response to the racism allegations.

As the West Ham team walked off the field in Cary, North Carolina they were applauded by the fans who were watching on, some of which were in West Ham colors.
