On social media over the weekend, Jackson and Emerson commented on a controversial issue that’s making headlines across the United States. In their latest Instagram post, which features a selfie of them together, they talk about their decision to delete their Target registry. They explain, “We had chosen to register at Target, but after seeing some of the choices they have recently made, we felt that we could no longer support their business. More than anything else, we want to stay true to our faith and our values.”

Later in their post, they add, “So after much prayer, we decided to cancel our registry with Target, in hopes that the leaders of this company will reconsider some of the decisions they are making.”

When sharing this post, Jackson and Emerson chose to turn off the comments, so fans can’t voice their opinions.  Recently, Target has taken a lot of heat for selling LGBTQ+ merchandise in honor of Pride Month, which is in June. The company has since chosen to remove these products due to the backlash and the threats to team members’ safety, as reported by NBC.

How are Bringing Up Bates fans reacting?

As mentioned, Jackson Bates and Emerson Wells opted to keep the comments off on their post. So, fans have gone elsewhere to discuss it.

On Reddit, a fan reposted the photo, including Emerson and Jackson’s statement. Many aren’t surprised that the couple holds these views. But some feel that they didn’t need to make an entire post about it. One fan pointed out that Target likely doesn’t know they exist or care about this post. Someone else added, “This is not what ‘christianity’ is supposed to be about.”

To show support, Gil and Kelly Jo Bates reposted this statement on their Instagram Stories.
