On a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune, a grandmother and granddaughter were competing. Ultimately, they ended up with a big win. However, the win was at risk when the granddaughter wanted to spin again. Yet, her grandmother stopped her and solved the puzzle before she could.

Here is what happened and how host Pat Sajak reacted to the event.

Grandmother helps family win on Wheel of Fortune

On March 24, families competed on Wheel of Fortune and when it came time for one grandmother and granddaughter team to take their turn, grandma overruled her granddaughter. The granddaughter Hayden Partyka was reaching down to spin the wheel, but her grandmother, Barb Marquardt, stopped her. She told Pat she would solve it.

She then solved the puzzle correctly. There were seven letters missing in the six-word puzzle. Grandma said, “A Delightful Resort By The Sea” and won the puzzle. Hayden leaned over and said they could have won some money, but her grandma said it would be alright. Pat Sajak then agreed and said that they all learned not to interrupt Grandma when she is solving the puzzle. The good news was that they won a trip to the Bahamas.

Of course, winning some money too would have been helpful since they have to pay taxes on the trip before they can claim that prize. However, once again, listening to Grandma was the right decision. Hayden and Barb celebrated the Bahamas’ win and then went on to make it all the way to the final puzzle. They didn’t guess the final puzzle, but they still won over $31,000 on top of the Bahamas trip, so things worked out just fine for the duo.

Fans react to the Wheel of Fortune moment

The Wheel of Fortune Instagram account posted a clip from the moment and captioned it, “Do not interrupt grandma,” with clapping hands emojis in between each word. Fans took to the post with their own thoughts.

One fan responded to the post with the simple comment, “Grandma knows what’s up!” Another posted, “Always solve if you have the answer. Grandma knows!!!! The wheel can be unforgiving. Go Grandma!!!!!!” That was a common thread, with many people saying that people who keep spinning to make more money often hit bankrupt or lose a turn and it costs them any chance to win. By guessing, Grandma hoped for more money, and it paid off.

Overall, fans just seemed happy with the entire week in general for Wheel of Fortune. Having grandparents competing alongside their grandkids was a nice break for the popular game show. What are your thoughts about Grandma solving the Wheel of Fortune puzzle without spinning? Was she lucky to still win money, or did Grandma just know best? Let us know in the comments below.
