  • New career move comes 12 months after one-time NRL star retired from boxing

Retired boxing champion Anthony Mundine has announced a lucrative career shake-up, 12 months after he stepped away from the ring.

The one-time NRL star turned triple world champion, 46, has become the latest retired sportsman to enter the wellness sector.

Mundine has joined forces with IsoWhey to be the face of their new Ramadan Shake.

The timely partnership comes as the devout Muslim prepares for a month of fasting during daylight hours when Ramadan begins on April 2.

‘Inshallah, I hope it makes it easy on me to help me get through Ramadan,’ Mundine said.

‘I always suffer a little but after a week or so you get used to it. I want everyone to try the IsoWhey Ramadan Shake this Ramadan.

‘It will keep me full and help me concentrate through the holy month because it’s extremely high in slow-release protein, fibre from dates and hydration ingredients that help me sustain my energy throughout the day.’

The estimated worth of Mundine’s new partnership hasn’t been disclosed by his manager, Sydney Confidential reported.

The date-flavoured shake is packed with slow release protein and fibre to keep users feeling full throughout the day while fasting, according to the wellness company’s website.

Once the highest-paid player in the NRL, Mundine sent shockwaves through the code when he suddenly quit the sport in 2000 in the prime of his career at age 25.

He held the WBA super-middleweight title twice between 2003 and 2008 and the IBO middleweight title from 2009 to 2010,

Mundine retired from boxing in March 2021 with a career record of 48 wins and 11 losses.

Since then, the high profile anti-vaxxer has been slapped with a $1,000 after he allegedly broke Covid-19 restrictions by entering a Bunnings store in Sydney without wearing a mask.

He was later charged with failing to comply with public health order directions during Sydney’s four-month lockdown during the Covid-19 Delta outbreak.

His son Rahim, 20, hopes to follow in his his footsteps and will make his professional boxing debut on the undercard of the heavyweight bout between cross-code athlete Sonny Bill Williams and AFL great Barry Hall in Sydney next week.
