Gareth Bale is not wanted by Real Madrid next season and the club are looking to move him on this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The 31-year-old Welshman caused a storm earlier this week when he announced his plan to return to Spain once his loan deal with Tottenham comes to an end in June, stating he had only planned to stay a year in north London.
His agent Jonathan Barnett later claimed his client’s comments were ‘taken completely out of context’ and added it was ‘too early’ to draw conclusions about where the Wales forward would be plying his trade in club football in 2021-22.

Bale stated he would be returning to Spain once his Tottenham loan spell ends in June
But according to Spanish outlet MARCA, LaLiga champions Real have already decided that Bale’s time at the club is over and are keen to remove his £31million-a-year salary from their books in order to bring in new additions to the squad this summer.
Madrid have been linked with moves for strikers Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, while they have also reportedly been in contact with Bayern Munich star David Alaba over a free transfer.
Bale will have one year remaining on his contract with Zinedine Zidane’s men once his loan deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium comes to an end this summer.
The Welshman appeared to be returning to something approaching his best form with Spurs having scored six goals in six games between February and March, but Jose Mourinho dropped him for their 2-0 win against Aston Villa after reportedly being unimpressed by his work-rate.

Bale has played just 12 Premier League matches this season and was benched for the trip to Villa Park after coming on in the 60th minute of Spurs’ humiliating Europa League last-16 exit to Dinamo Zagreb.
Tottenham are paying around £250,000 of Bale’s £600,000-a-week deal at Madrid as part of his loan agreement.
The winger admitted that it was ‘nice to get away’ on international duty with Wales ahead of their defeat to Belgium and their upcoming fixtures against Mexico and Czech Republic.
‘The main reason I came to Spurs this year was that I wanted to play football first and foremost, but going into Euro 2020 I wanted to be match fit,’ he said.
Bale appeared to have returned to form but was dropped by Jose Mourinho at Aston Villa
‘The original plan was only to do a season at Spurs and then after the Euros I still have a year left at Real Madrid. My plan is obviously to go back and that’s as far as I’ve planned.
‘I always think when things aren’t going too well at your club it’s nice to get away. Especially mentally, it can definitely be a benefit to get away from the club environment.
‘The thing we have to do now is focus on these couple games for Wales which are very important for us. We forget club life and concentrate on this.’
Barnett then made it known to ESPN that Bale’s comments were simply a statement of fact rather than his actual intention.
Ramon Calderon suggested Bale is not happy with how his Spurs return has panned out
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon also said this week Gareth Bale is ‘not happy’ at how his return to Tottenham has panned out.
‘He’s not happy about his time at Tottenham and Mourinho doesn’t seem to be very happy either,’ Calderon told talkSPORT.
‘He’s not counting on him in many matches and Bale is disappointed and maybe that’s the reason he would like to return.’
