Home and Away actress Sam Frost has been sober for eight months.

‘I haven’t had a drink since my birthday in April. Successfully made it through the silly season without a cheeky wine,’ she wrote on Instagram.

Without a hangover to deal with on January 1, Sam instead worked up a sweat at her local gym.

The actress performed a variety of exercises, including skipping, weighted sit-ups, Russian twists, shoulder taps and squats.

While Sam didn’t specify why she quit drinking, she did speak generally about her decision to follow a healthier lifestyle in a blog post in August.

‘I feel like there has been a shift in me this year. I’m not sure whether it’s because I am single again, or if it’s because I’m in my thirties and I am tired of having to apologise for who I am. Maybe it’s because 2020 has been a real jerk of a year? I don’t know why, all I know.. I have changed,’ she wrote.

‘I have spent my entire life constantly beating myself up. My self-worth has had an ugly and brutal battle through my teens and twenties. Never feeling like I’m good enough, smart enough, pretty enough… blah, blah, blah. The self-destructive tape would play over and over, which quite literally nearly killed me.

‘I signed up to a gym and took baby steps getting back into shape. I have always been active, but never dedicated. It started with two sessions a week, and I worked my way up from up there. Now a year later, I happily go to the gym four to five days a week and I see a personal trainer twice a week. I am feeling really good mentally and physically.’
