West Ham assistant manager Kevin Nolan was spotted furiously confronting Brentford star Neal Maupay at half-time at the London Stadium.

Maupay was approached by Nolan as the teams emerged for the second half, with West Ham leading 2-1 in the Monday evening Premier League fixture.

According to Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville, Nolan had reportedly been outside referee Simon Hooper’s room at half-time.

Nolan was reportedly angered by Maupay, with the dispute continuing down the down.

‘There was quite a bit going on at half time as the players came back out from the tunnel,’ Neville said.

‘The Brentford striker Neal Maupay we believe was outside the referee’s room and Kevin Nolan [West Ham first team coach] has taken offence to it.

‘It doesn’t look like he’s calmed down either.’

Brentford had been angered after seeing penalty appeals waved away by Hooper in the first half.

The Bees appealed that Sergio Reguilon had been pushed over by Mohammed Kudus in the box, but saw their claims waved away.

Maupay had given Brentford hope in the first half by reducing the deficit to 2-1 in the 13th minute.

Thomas Frank’s side conceded twice in the opening seven minutes to Jarrod Bowen.

The West Ham star completed a hat-trick to restore their two goal cushion in the second half, before a stunning goal from Emerson Palmieri secured a 4-1 lead.

Maupay has been involved in a series of recent spats on the pitch, including copying James Maddison’s darts celebration when giving Brentford the lead at Tottenham, only for Spurs to fight back to win.

The Premier League’s pantomime villain then angered Kyle Walker, and was accused of talking about the full-back’s family on the back of news he had fathered a second child with a different woman to his partner.

The forward was slammed for his actions but has insisted he has never crossed a line, denying the allegations around his supposed comments to Walker in his side’s 3-1 defeat to the Champions on February 5.
