Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been summoned by Saudi Pro League chiefs to explain a seemingly obscene gesture he made towards Al-Shabab fans.

The Al-Nassr star is in hot water after appearing to make a sexual gesture towards opposition fans in a 3-2 win on Sunday.

Ronaldo seemed irked that Al-Shabab fans chanted ‘Messi, Messi’ at him and, after the win, cupped his ear before signalling towards his nether regions.

He had scored the first goal of the game from the penalty spot.

Now, the Portugal international has reportedly been called before the Saudi league’s overlords to illuminate why he mimed an obscene act towards fans.

That’s according to Al-Riyadiah via AS, who claim he could face a two-match ban and a fine.

It appears as if he will have the chance to explain his way out of it, but AS claim he is ‘on the ropes’ in this scenario.

The Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of the Saudi Pro League will listen to Ronaldo’s first-hand account before making a decision.

If he is punished, it would be a devastating blow to Al-Nassr’s receding hopes in the title race.

Al-Nassr have won all of their last seven games but remain seven points behind Al-Hilal, who have won 19 and drawn two of 21 games so far.

With 13 games to go it is a significant, but not insurmountable, gap, especially considering that Al-Nassr will welcome to champions-elect on May 16.

Ronaldo has scored in all of their last nine games in all competitions and would miss fixtures against Al-Hazm and Al-Raed with a two-game sanction.

Were the punishment to be longer than that, he would miss a difficult clash away at Al-Ahli, who are third in the league but nine points behind them.

Ronaldo is having a scorching season, having scored 28 times already.

Ronaldo could miss at least two games and be fined if he cannot wriggle out of trouble

Earlier this season, he said he wants to score 1,000 career goals after being challenged to reach the milestone by Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto.

So far he is up to 877, so he still has some going to get there, but he has showed no signs of slowing down since moving to Saudi Arabia, even if he isn’t at this best anymore.
