Early Life of Maria Shriver

The second child of activist Eunice Kennedy and politician Sargent Shriver, Shriver was born on November 6, 1955, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She is primarily of Irish and German ancestry and is a Roman Catholic.

Except for a brief period in the summer of 1968, when Shriver’s family briefly relocated to Chicago, Illinois, as a result of Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s involvement with the Special Olympics, Shriver spent her middle school years in Paris, France.
