Daryl Cronk was a former All-American pitcher for Pitsburg State University and one of the most dedicated and long-serving members of the Avilla Athletics community.
“This morning was hard,” Avilla University Director of Athletics Shawn Summe wrote. Daryl was a great and genuine man, he added. May his soul be guided to a place of rest in heaven.

Avilla Baseball Coach Daryl Cronk served as assistant director of athletics overseeing outdoor facilities. In addition to seven winning seasons in nine years, Cronk had led Avilla to the NAIA.

As a player, Cronk was all-conference at Belton High School and went on to an All-American career as a pitcher at Pittsburg State in NCAA Division II.
He returned to his alma mater as pitching coach at Pitt State in 2000. From 2004-07, he was an assistant coach at Pembroke Hill High School in Kansas City.
In 2007, he was named Missouri State High School Assistant Coach of the Year. From 2008-10, he was an assistant at the University of Central Missouri and helped the Mules to the NCAA.
He earned a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Central Missouri. Cronk lives in Belton, Mo. He is the father of three. His children are Bailee, and sons Blake and Brett.

Cronk passed away at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Summe, the former college baseball head coach said, “Daryl created a culture of family within the Avilla baseball program;
and that’s the most important thing a coach can do.” The death of legend has brought sadness to the baseball team. His family and friends must be devasted.

There was a ‘Go Fund Me‘ campaign set by Daryl Cronk’s nephew. He wrote, “Daryl is currently in the hospital under sedation and is currently fighting.”

He continued, “Anyone who knows Daryl, knows he would give the shirt off his back for anyone. He has done so much for so many people.
This fundraiser will go to help his kids with expenses and hospital bills.” However, this appeal went in vain as the athlete is no longer with us at this time of the year.
