On July 24, Sunday, three people were killed in a shooting case at Ateneo De Manila University, a top educational institution in Manila, Philippines. The incident sends shockwaves across the country.
One of the victims was the former mayor of the southern Lamitan city, Rose Furigay. That’s why many people have termed this shooting case as a mass political assassination.
As per the police reports, the suspect, Mr. Tiao, had been planning to shoot only Furigay, but the other two people came in the way. Mr. Tiao was arrested after he got wounded in the shootout.

Remus Medina, Quezon City Police District (QPCD) director, has identified the suspect as Dr. Chao Tiao Yumol in the Ateneo De Manila University shooting case.
Currently, Mr. Medina is in charge of the shooting case and has successfully arrested the suspect in a car chase. He said that further investigation is going on and more reports will be revealed soon.
In interaction with the media, the QPCD director said, “He looks like he was a determined assassin.” Furthermore, Medina seemed shocked as the incident happened under the security of the police.
As per Medina’s statement, the suspect has no relation to the graduation ceremony happening at the University. A native of Lamitan city, he was there to kill the former Mayor, Rose Furigay.

The QPCD director has been working in the country’s security force for several years now, gaining vast experience in criminal cases. Previously, he served in the Department of Drug Enforcement.
