Liam Payne’s toxicology results revealed a troubling mix of substances in his system at the time of his heartbreaking death.
A partial autopsy indicated that the former One Direction star had cocaine, crack, and benzodiazepines—depressants—present in his body when he tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16, sources informed ABC News on Monday.

Moreover, the tests identified “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug blend often comprising methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA. An improvised aluminum pipe for drug use was also discovered in Payne’s hotel room, according to the sources.
His body will remain in Argentina until the full autopsy is finalized. Payne’s life was cut short last week when he plummeted from the third-floor balcony of his room at CasaSur Palermo Hotel at just 31 years old.
Local authorities previously mentioned to TMZ that they suspected Payne had been under the influence of “cristal,” a substance known for inducing extreme highs and lows, sometimes leading to aggressive behavior.
A preliminary autopsy report indicated that the former boy band member sustained multiple traumas from the fall, resulting in both internal and external bleeding.

Emergency physician Alberto Crescenti stated that Payne suffered a cranial fracture and “extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death,” with first responders unable to revive him.
Following his passing, Page Six confirmed that alcohol and controlled substances were found in his hotel room, which was left in disarray.
Witnesses reported that Payne displayed “disturbing” behavior in the hotel lobby just moments before his untimely demise. Having openly struggled with addiction and mental health challenges during his tenure with One Direction, he had been traveling in Argentina with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, shortly before checking into the hotel alone.
Cassidy, 25, expressed her grief over her boyfriend’s loss through a heartfelt Instagram post last Friday.
“Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam,”
she wrote.
Payne’s former bandmates—Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik—also shared a rare joint tribute.
“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever,”
the “What Makes You Beautiful” singers stated.
“For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”
