During the Invictus Games, the Grammy-nominated artist performed two songs, including his poignant track about mental health, ‘I’m Not Okay.’ As he interacted with the audience in a deeply personal manner, he took a moment to honor the true heroes of the event.

“I want to make it clear what’s happening right now while I’m on this stage. I am an overweight man with a microphone, but the real heroes are the athletes and families who are here today,” he shared with the audience.

“And I want you to remember, when you go home after these 11 days of excitement and finally sit down, and in a few months when life returns to normal, I want you to know this: If you ever hear that voice in your head telling you that you can be anything but great, it’s lying.”

Jelly is certainly looking healthier than ever. Recently, he told E! News about hiking a mountain.

“There’s no way I could have done that before,” he remarked, adding that it’s “amazing to see that progress, and we’re still moving forward.”

For the past few years, Jelly Roll has been candid about his weight challenges, stating in an Instagram post in 2018, “I’ve been obese since I was a small child. All I’ve ever known is being fat, and I’m f–king miserable.

I want to skydive, bungee jump, ride a bull, parasail, and enjoy roller coasters. I want to LIVE a normal life and have a healthy relationship with food. I battle addictions and alcoholism every day.”

“The battle was with food addiction,” Jelly Roll shared during an interview with People. “I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the tough part…really battling that demon at first and finding the discipline and commitment. But once you embrace that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche.”

Although Jelly Roll has made significant strides over the past year, he has repeatedly emphasized that this is just the beginning. In an episode of his wife Bunnie XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast, he mentioned his goal of appearing on magazine covers by March 2026 to showcase his impressive weight loss.

“What I want the world to understand is that I didn’t achieve success because of my weight,” he explained. “I became successful in spite of it. I somehow managed to reach this level of success while weighing 550 pounds. That’s just crazy.”
