Chappell Roan has revealed that her much-anticipated single, The Giver, will officially debut on March 13 at 8 p.m. ET. Taking to Instagram to share the news, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about her deep-rooted connection to country music, a genre she says shaped her childhood.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Roan explained how country music was a constant presence in her life, from school bus rides to bonfires and even grocery store visits.
This heartfelt connection inspired her to explore the genre for the first time in collaboration with her longtime producer and co-writer, Dan Nigro. “We’ve never done a country song,” she shared, “and I have such a special place in my heart for country music.”

While fans are abuzz with speculation about whether this marks the beginning of a full country album, Roan has set the record straight.
“Right now, I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun,”
she said. Playfully describing The Giver as her take on “cuntry,” she added, “May the classic country divas lead their genre; I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for y’all.” The announcement comes after months of teasing, including an electrifying live performance of the song on Saturday Night Live back in November 2024.
