Where Is Steve Wright Going After Leave Radio 2? It has been made known that Steve Wright will depart his position as host of Radio 2’s iconic afternoon show after more than two decades. The 67-year-old DJ and presenter, who made his Radio 2 debut in 1999 with Steve Wright in the Afternoon, will be replaced by Scott Mills.
Steve, whose programs air alongside those of Zoe Ball and Paul O’Grady, announced on Friday that Scott would take over as presenter and that he would remain at the BBC to work on “exciting digital ventures.” The seasoned radio broadcaster will keep hosting his Sunday Love Songs program.
In the meantime, Scott, one of Radio 1’s most well-known hosts, will switch over to Radio 2 to host a brand-new daily show with a period from 2-4 pm.

When the news was verified, Steve Wright gave supporters an explanation for why he was leaving Radio 2, saying that BBC executives had decided to reorganize the schedule.
He recalled, “At the start of this year, my colleague and employer, Helen Thomas, the program director for Radio 2, expressed a desire to do something different in the afternoons.
“The support and creative freedom that he has given is amazing at Radio 2, and, honestly, he can’t hog the slot forever, so let’s give somebody else a chance,” Steve added as he reflected on his particular time at Radio 2 throughout the years.

He continued, providing a glimpse into his future intentions, “He is staying at the BBC and radio to do some really exciting, brand-new digital initiatives and generate new podcasts, some of which actually will use components of this program, Steve Wright, in the Afternoon.”

Fans of Steve Wright will be happy to hear that the well-known presenter will continue to work on various projects for the BBC. Beginning in the fall of 2022, BBC broadcaster Scott Mills will replace Steve Wright in the afternoon time slot.
Mills’ voice is already familiar to Radio 2 listeners. The Radio 1 veteran has frequently filled in on Radio 2 for Ken Bruce and Steve Wright, in addition to hosting specials like last year’s Neighbours celebration.
