A Los Angeles jury has found A$AP Rocky not guilty on two counts of felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The verdict, delivered on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, wraps up a trial that lasted nearly a month.
Rakim Mayers, known as A$AP Rocky, faced accusations of firing a handgun at his former friend, Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, during a confrontation in Hollywood on November 6, 2021.

Testimony from Ephron indicated that a bullet grazed his hand during the incident. Prosecutors contended that A$AP Rocky intentionally shot at Ephron after a dispute.
In his defense, A$AP Rocky’s team argued that he was carrying a “prop gun” for security reasons and suggested that Ephron’s actions were driven by jealousy. A$AP Rocky chose not to testify during the trial.
After deliberation, the jury acquitted him on both counts. Upon hearing the verdict, A$AP Rocky tearfully thanked the jury for “saving my life.” His partner, Rihanna, took to social media to express her gratitude, crediting the outcome to God’s mercy.

Prior to the trial, A$AP Rocky turned down a plea deal that would have included a 180-day jail sentence. A key issue throughout the trial was whether A$AP Rocky had used a real firearm or a prop gun during the altercation.
The case garnered significant attention, fueled by A$AP Rocky’s celebrity status and his relationship with Rihanna, which heightened public interest.
