During his junior year, the Seattle Mariners selected Yastrzemski in the 20th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft 2012.

They even offered him a 300,000 signing bonus, which is well above the suggested bonus for a player. However, Yastrzemski chose not to sign and returned to play his senior year with the Commodores.

In his senior year, Yastrzemski was named All-Southeastern Conference. During his third draft, the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, he signed to the Baltimore Orioles when they selected Yastrzemski in the 14th round.

After signing with the Baltimore Orioles, he played with the Aberdeen IronBirds, a minor league baseball team, in 2013.

His career with the Orioles had him play with many more minor league baseball teams and Draft leagues besides the IronBirds. They were to Delmarva Shorebirds, the Frederick Keys, the Bowie Baysox, and the Norfolk Tides.

Yastrzemski would spend much of 2014 to 2018 shuffling between these teams until being traded to the San Francisco Giants on March 22, 2019.
