In spite of a successful bone marrow transplant, Azaylia’s leukemia rapidly multiplied, and she relapsed.
Despite chemotherapy, the couple’s daughter could not be saved.
The campaign led to the submission of 41,000 stem cell donor applications within two days after Ashley and Saffiya made their plea in November 2020.
Azaylia passed away at eight months old despite all the efforts on 24 April 2021.

Ashley Cain Divorce Story With Saffiyya Vorajee
Ashley Cain and his wife, Saffiyya Vorajee, announced their separation in March 2022, less than a year after Azaylia’s death from leukemia.
In a joint statement, the couple said they needed time to figure out what to do about the situation.
Ashley and Saffiyya remain close friends despite the separation.
Azaylea, the daughter of the ex-couple, and their powerful journey together bind them together.
Ashley and Saffiyya announced in May 2021 that they were starting a cancer charity in Azaylea’s honor.
Despite their cancer diagnosis, the couple continues to help other cancer-stricken families.
In five days, Ashley ran a 100-mile ultra marathon and five marathons across five capital cities.
To raise money for children with cancer, he also cycled 1800 miles across Europe and 200 miles on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
