The studio has acquired the rights to “The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played,” a book by Kevin Cook that details how Woods made history by becoming the first golfer to hold all four major championships at the same time in 2000-2001.

Reinaldo Marcus Green, the director behind “King Richard” — a film that captured the upbringing of tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams and their father Richard — is set to direct, as reported by Deadline.

That film garnered Will Smith an Oscar for Best Actor, a moment that became infamously overshadowed when he slapped comedian Chris Rock on stage during the 2022 Academy Awards, just moments before winning the prestigious award.

The Obamas run Higher Ground Productions, which has brought us the Oscar-winning documentary “American Factory” and the popular Netflix thriller “Leave the World Behind,” along with various TV shows and podcasts. Woods is considered one of the greatest players in golf history, famously becoming the first Black individual to win a major title when he took the 1997 Masters by storm.

The upcoming film will likely focus on one of his crowning achievements, known as the “Tiger Slam,” during which he triumphed at the 2000 US Open, British Open, and PGA Championship, before sealing the deal with a win at the 2001 Masters, making it four major victories in a row.

It’s worth noting that the film is not expected to delve into Woods’ later personal struggles, which began with a car accident near his home in November 2009, leading to the revelation of numerous extramarital affairs and the unraveling of his marriage.

The latest of Woods’ 15 major victories — just three shy of Jack Nicklaus’s record of 18 — occurred at the 2019 Masters. He revealed on Tuesday that he has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, marking yet another tough turn in his tumultuous career.
