This ruling allows some documents to be labeled as “attorney’s eyes only,” meaning only the lawyers can access them—neither party involved in the case can see these documents. The goal here is to protect sensitive details like trade secrets, confidential business strategies, security measures, medical records, and personal information from making their way to the public.
The legal troubles between Lively and Baldoni kicked off in December 2024 when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and initiating a smear campaign against her.
In turn, Baldoni countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, claiming defamation. The protective order was requested to keep sensitive information, which includes details about other celebrities and their publicists, under wraps during the pretrial stage.
Judge Lewis J. Liman pointed out that while the protective order doesn’t offer blanket protection, it does focus on specific information that could lead to serious harm if revealed.
