Jaqueline Barbosa Nascimento went missing during a jet ski trip on Sunday. The 22-year-old was with friends she had met just two weeks earlier at a party. Although she could not swim, she joined in on the water activity. Firefighters recovered her body three days later at the Jaguara Dam in Igaratá, Brazil.
Her best friend, Gabrielle Reis, shared that Jaqueline had voiced concerns about the trip. She said:
“All our close friends pleaded with her not to go, since none of us could go along. But she spent the whole week nagging us, saying, ‘come on, come on.’ In the end, she went anyway.”

Police Classify Death as Suspicious
Authorities have recorded Nascimento’s death as “suspicious.” The friends present during the jet ski ride gave inconsistent statements to the police.

Gabrielle Reis described Nascimento as a sweet and naive person. She admitted they had recently argued over her lifestyle choices. Reis said:

Nascimento’s mother recognized her body at the recovery site. The influencer lived with her parents and younger sister in São Paulo.
She had previously worked in a jewelry and perfume shop and also had experience as a production assistant. Her social media showcased her partying on speedboats and jet skis.
