Claudine Barretto lost her on-screen and real-life partner of four years, Rico Yan. The actor died of acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis on March 29, 2002. The death of the actor has caused Barretto a lot of emotional damage. Her panic disorder can be traced back to that very incident.

Claudine Margaret Castelo Barretto was born July 20, 1979, in Manila, Philippines. She is an actress, singer, and entrepreneur. She is the youngest of seven children. Her parents are Miguel Barretto and Estrella “Inday” Barretto.
Barretto made her television debut in ABS-CBN’s youth-oriented variety show, Ang TV. She then was cast in the sitcom Home Along Da Riles. Her official film debut was the film adaptation of the same TV show in 1993.
She landed her first television drama lead role in 1997’s Mula sa Puso which ran for three years on ABS-CBN. This role established her as a household name in Philippine entertainment.
Like her, Claudine’s older sister, Gretchen Barretto is also an actor. She was discovered by talent manager Douglas Quijano in 1992 through Gretchen.
