Mahlon died at the age of 38.

He was hospitalized on July 25 after suffering a heart attack, according to TMZ.

Reyes never regained consciousness despite surviving.

The famous deadhand was later revealed to have died of brain damage caused by cocaine intoxication.

Overconsumption of cocaine tragically led to Reyes’ death.

Mahlon suffered a heart attack in Whitefish, Montana, on July 26.

Though Reyes had survived the heart attack, his family members had to make the most difficult decision ever and elected to take him off his life support the next day.

After investigating his case, Flathead County Sheriff and Coroner Brian Heino said that they had determined Mahlon Reyes’s cause of death was “acute intoxication.” 

Based on National Institute on Drug Abuse, cocaine-related deaths often happen when the person goes into cardiac arrest.

In cocaine overuse, the side effects are extreme, as the heart rhythm is severely impacted, which can cause the untimely death of the consumer.

This means the heart stops first, then the breathing is lowered to zero percent, and a person dies, in most cocaine-related deaths.

Mahlon Reyes’s cause of death has taught many people about the effects of overconsumption of cocaine.

The crab fisherman and his mate, Nick, were addicted to cocaine consumption, ultimately leading to their departure from their reality show and life.

The cause of Mahlon’s death was clearly due to overuse of cocaine, but the reason for his death being brain damage is not stated anywhere.

Cocaine is a stimulant drug affecting the functioning of the central nervous system (CNS). 

So, long-term cocaine use can cause marked changes in brain chemistry and permanent brain damage as it affects motor functioning and causes cerebral bleeding.

Meet Mahlon Reyes Family

The death of the famous reality show personality Mahlon Reyes has devastated his family and close circle of friends.

Mahlon lived with his wife, Heathe Sullivan, and four of his children.

Mahlon’s wife, Heather, stated on a memorial Facebook page during the summer that Reyes had suffered a heart attack.

So, they immediately transported Reyes to the intensive care unit for his treatment.

On July 31, Heather wrote that Mahlon never woke up, and there was too much time without oxygen with irreversible brain damage.”

Then, on a Sunday night, the family had to make the most challenging choice: to remove Reyes from life support.

Therefore, the death of Reyes happened shortly after midnight on July 27, according to Reyes’s wife.

Reyes was in the show, where he was very close to one of his friends/castmates named Nick McGlashan.

Soon after Mahlon Reyes’s death, after five months, Nick also died.

McGlashan was 33 years old when he died after his friends’ deaths.

So, after McGlashan’s death, Reyes’s wife wrote,” Together again, flying high.”
