Details On Mark Shields Health Condition

Mark Shields died of kidney failure at his home. His health condition was deteriorating lately and was bedridden for some time before his death. According to NewsHour spokesman Nick Massella, Shields passed away at his home in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

The PBS News commentator was 85 years old when he took his last breath. Due to old age, his immune system was not able to hold longer as the failure of the vital organ proved to be fatal.

Shields was born on May 25, 1937, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and was raised in an Irish Catholic family. He enlisted in US Marine Corps in the early 1960s and was discharged as a lance corporal in 1962.

Mark Shields was married to Anne Hudson Shields. She is a former civil service official at the US Department of the Interior. Anne currently works as a lawyer.

The couple had a daughter Amy and were grandparents to two grandchildren. Mark’s wife, Anne was by his side when he passed away on June 18, 2022, in their home in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
