Given his situation, it’s not simple for Alagiah to emcee one of the most well-known news programs in the world, but he makes it seem simple.

The Queen honored the 66-year-old with the OBE award in 2008 for his service to the British media.

The presenter has been battling cancer for the past eight and half years, and recently George revealed that he has a tumor site in his lower back which causes him extreme pain.

The British media has lost many of its household names to the deadly disease cancer, including Dame Deborah James and Bill Turnbull.

The presenter made his return once again in April of this year and recently revealed that he has a tumour at the base of his back which causes him extreme pain.

In 2014 the presenter talked about his experience of living with cancer, which spread to his lymph nodes and lungs. Alagiah said the question of how he coped with the disease would always hunt him as even he was left dumbfounded after initially being diagnosed with the disease.

Speaking to Telegraph in August, the presenter opened up about the eight years of his experience living with bowel cancer. The presenter revealed that one of his ways to deal with his cancer was by realising that the body and mind are the same though apart.

The presenter said he used breathing techniques that were taught to him by his osteopath. Alagiah is an optimistic person, and with his diagnosis, the presenter says he has understood the richness of each day.

George currently takes low doses for around three-quarters of the year and higher doses for the rest of the time. The doctors have informed the presenter that his vertebra has eroded and the cancer is likely to spread to his spine.
