Police have identified LGBTQ+ activist Edwin Chiloba as the body of a man discovered put inside a metal box alongside the Kipkenyo-Kaptinga Road in Uasin Gishu County.
The Kenyan Police are now investigating the death of young LGBTQ activist and fashion designer Edwin Chiloba, whose body was found dumped by the side of the road close to Eldoret.
Mr. Chiloba, who was well-known in Eldoret Town’s streets and frequently appeared in women’s clothes, routinely shared photos on his official social media profiles.
His final Instagram post, published on December 29th, 2022, stated that he had several objectives for 2023, including expanding his fashion business and collaborating with well-known companies.

According to a Police spokesperson quoted in the Star newspaper, there is no known motive for the murder.
However, rights groups in Kenya, where gay sex is illegal, connect it to his sexuality. One estimate shows more than half of Kenya’s LGBTQ population has experienced assault.
The rights group galck+ wrote on Twitter that they couldn’t even describe how they, as a community, were feeling at the time. As Kenya’s LGBTQ community mourns the activist, Police have also started investigating the brutal killing.

LGBTQ Activist Was Found Murdered In Uasin Gishu
Chiloba declared last month on Instagram that he would stand up for all marginalized people, claiming that he had experienced marginalization firsthand.
On Wednesday, his corpse was found. A witness is cited as saying they saw someone leaving a metal box by the side of the road in a car without a license plate. When the Police were informed, they went to open the box and discovered the body.
Police discovered the man’s disintegrating body dressed in a woman’s clothes when they opened the box. He was transported to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where a post-mortem would be performed to determine the cause of death.
Edwin Chiloba Was Attacked A Few Months Ago
According to Nairobi News, unidentified assailants attacked Mr. Chiloba four months ago, but he managed to survive.
People hostile to his LGBTQ lifestyle attacked him during the incident and beat him up. Images seen by Nairobi News after the incident show that he was hurt, including having a large cut on his lips and blood trickling down from the top of his face. His face was covered in bruises and scrapes, and his clothes were torn and filthy.
An Instagram user going by the name of Biubwa described how they tried to get in touch with him to find out what had happened, but he said he would talk to them when he was ready in his response.
Only four months later, according to a post on the Instagram account Biubwa, they brutally murdered him in the ugliest of ways, and his heart is broken. Biubwa claims that the deceased bravely fought for his rights, and his passing was a significant loss to many of his supporters.
