Earlier, Alex was ordered to pay $4.1 million to the victim’s family, but later jury added another $45 million, which now sums up to $49 Million. The sum of 49.3 million is less than the $150 million sought in the actual defamation amount asked by Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose 6-year-old son Jesse Lewis was one of the 20 kids and six teachers killed in the 2012 shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

However, the trial is the first time Jones has been held financially accountable for spreading false information about the massacre. The $45.2 million judgment will probably be decreased since punitive damages for emotional anguish in Texas are limited to $750,000.
