How Did John Ritter Die?

Ritter fell ill on September 11, 2003, while filming an episode of 8 Simple Rules. He felt sick to his stomach, and he vomited.

A few hours after being taken to the hospital across from the Burbank studio, he passed tragically from a torn aorta at the age of 54.

A few months after his passing, Ritter’s performance in the movie 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter earned him an Emmy nomination in 2004.

The show had a name change and aired for two more seasons before being canceled in April 2005. Clifford’s Big Movie and Bad Santa, his most recent films, were made in his honor.

The dedication of a New painting designed by Eloy Torrez took place at Hollywood High School on June 6, 2008.

Was John Ritter Married?

On October 16, 1977, Ritter married Actress Nancy Morgan, and the two went on to have three children together: Jason, Carly, and Tyler.

They divorced on September 1st, 1996. He married Actress Amy Yasbeck on September 18, 1999, at the Murphy Theatre in Wilmington, Ohio. They had a child in 1998.

Yasbeck played his love interest twice in the first two Problem Child movies, albeit under two different identities.

Moreover, Yasbeck played Ritter’s wife in two sitcoms. In 1991, they both made guest appearances on The Cosby Show, with Yasbeck as the overworked spouse of basketball coach Ritter.
