Josh Dobbs has been suffering from Alopecia Areata for nearly two decades.

Dobbs was diagnosed with the disease when he was eight – in third grade.
In an interview, he recalled how initial treatments helped grow his hair. But when he was in high school, his hairline began to recede. By the end of high school, he had lost all of his eyebrows and eyelashes.
Cortisone shots kept his alopecia at bay again until his senior year. He had to get weekly shots of cortisone to prevent hair loss. However, as time passed, the shots became less effective for him.
So, he decided to shave his head. Since then, Josh’s hair has stopped growing, and he has been bald.

Dobbs used his position as a public figure to spread awareness about alopecia, particularly among young people.
Joshua has described how his family and friends have helped him. A former NBA player named Charlie Villanueva, who shared the same condition, also inspired him.
In turn, his message to people is equally motivating, especially for young people affected by the condition. He said you could accomplish your dreams without your hair. Alopecia shouldn’t stand in your way.
