Leslie Jones recently opened up about her tumultuous relationship with a director during her time on Saturday Night Live (SNL) while appearing on the Toure Show podcast.
She didn’t mince words, calling him a “narcissistic dickhead” and sharing several stories that showcased the tension between them. One of the sketches that really stood out was “Kyle & Leslie,” where she starred alongside Kyle Mooney in a fictional romance. According to Jones, the director’s attitude was a major contributor to a toxic work environment.

One incident that really stuck out happened in 2017 during the filming of the “Beck & Kyle” pre-tape sketch. Things took a turn when Jones injured herself on set—she cut her arm on a wire and wanted to take a break.
But instead of getting support, the director allegedly belittled her, asking,
“What makes you so f—ing special?”
This led to a heated confrontation where Jones refused to back down. The situation became so intense that Tiffany Haddish, who was hosting that week, stepped in to support Jones.
Jones also suggested that the director’s behavior was influenced by racial bias and his Mormon background. She felt undervalued as a Black woman, comparing his actions to subtle racism. Additionally, she criticized his overly dramatic approach to directing, saying he treated sketches like they were high art, akin to Shakespearean performances.
Jones still hasn’t let go of her frustration, and she made it clear that she still views him as a “f—ing narcissistic dickhead.” She believes his behavior reflects deeper issues in the entertainment industry—issues of respect and fairness for performers.
