The Long and Painful Road to Pregnancy

Liz McClarnon’s IVF journey began in 2022, shortly after she and Peter started trying for a baby. Aware of her age, she was 40 at the time, the couple sought medical help early.

What followed was a relentless cycle of hope and heartbreak.

“After 8 IVF cycles within 3 years, as you can imagine, I’ve been on hormones more often than not,”

she shared on Instagram. The process took a visible toll, with Liz documenting moments where she felt drained, weight fluctuations, and emotional lows.

One particularly poignant post showed her in tears with the caption: “A little bit broken, who am I?”.

The Devastating Setbacks: Failed Cycles and Miscarriages

The couple faced three failed embryo transfers in 2023, each one harder than the last.

“The first time we did it, I thought, ‘This will be it,’”

Liz admitted.

“But by my third cycle, it was obviously very different. When that one didn’t work, I was really quite sick and I was in a dark hole”

Later that year, they suffered two miscarriages, losses that pushed Liz to her limit.

“I said I was ‘done’ after the last one,”

she revealed.

“Peter was absolutely on board with that… This is your body and I’ll support whatever you decide”.

A quiet Christmas with family helped her heal before they decided to try one last time.

A Miracle After the Storm

In May 2025, Liz finally shared the news fans had been hoping for, she was pregnant.

“I’ve been keeping a secret from you… After years of sometimes quite painful IVF and dark times, I’m pregnant!”

she wrote alongside a video revealing her baby bump.

The announcement was met with an outpouring of love, including from her Atomic Kitten bandmate Natasha Hamilton, who wrote:

“After all you’ve been through, this little miracle is everything”.

Now expecting a baby boy, Liz admits she’s still nervous but grateful.

“I’m so grateful, but I’m also petrified. But you know what? It’s happened to women older than me before, and it’ll happen again”.
