When Arredondo’s termination was authorized, the audience erupted in cheers. The Uvalde native, who created the district’s active-shooter tactics, had been in charge of the six-person police unit since March 2020.
According to those instructions, Arredondo was supposed to name himself incident commander, but a Texas House committee investigation into the massacre found that he did not do so on May 24.
