She continued, “You find it hilarious when you tell people because they think it’s a choice of last resort.” Presenter Carrie Bickmore appeared surprised by the admission. The whole panel was excited and offered their congratulations to the star.

The presenter further added after the announcement, “you have to spend the next thirty minutes explaining you’re not crying yourself to sleep at night.” “For me, it’s the perfect decision,” the long-serving star continued to say.

Rachel stated, “She kept it from us because I think there was a part of her that was embarrassed or ashamed.” Towards the end of the disease, her mother became a very different person. She witnessed her mother struggling and being trapped in her mind.

With tearful eyes, she continued, “I remember reading it was around ten years that people live with Alzheimer’s disease.” It was around that time her beloved mother passed away. She feels like a positive, wonderful, and brilliant woman who was taken too soon.

Her loving mother passed away in 2015 at 68 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Writing a column for The Daily Telegraph at the time, Corbett said, “I lost my mother to a 10-year-long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 68.”

Rachel Corbett began her radio career in 2002 as a co-host of The Morning Madhouse. She appeared alongside Steve Bedwell, Russell Gilbert, and James Brayshaw on Triple M Melbourne.
