However, there were multiple tumors due to which lumpectomy was not possible, and a single mastectomy was performed in May 2016. The surgery further revealed that some of the cancerous cells might have spread beyond the lymph nodes.
As the cancer was more advanced than previously determined, the actress had to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy following surgery. She then announced that her cancer was in remission in April 2017.
Sadly on February 4, 2020, Shannel shared that her cancer had returned a year prior and that she was now in stage four.
