Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, recently experienced a dramatic moment while trying to record music in prison.

On February 24, 2025, the rapper was on a video call, attempting to rap acapella from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, California. Suddenly, a riot erupted behind him, forcing him to stop his recording session.

In footage obtained by TMZ, Tory Lanez is seen rapping into the phone, initially focused on the camera. However, as the chaos escalates, he turns to glance over his shoulder, clearly worried about the situation unfolding behind him.

Inmates can be heard shouting, and Tory continues his verse for a short time before the turmoil becomes overwhelming. He ultimately runs away from the phone, exclaiming, “Ayo, they sprayed the pepper spray. I gotta go!” before the call abruptly ends.

This incident underscores Tory Lanez’s determination to keep making music despite being incarcerated. He had previously released a series of EPs called Prison Tapes, but prison guards confiscated the recording equipment he used for those projects, leading him to announce the series’ discontinuation. Nevertheless, he remains dedicated to his craft and plans to release a new album in 2025.

Tory Lanez’s commitment to creating music while in prison has attracted considerable attention and support from fans and fellow artists. Despite the obstacles he faces, he continues to channel his creativity and connect with his audience through his music.
