Sophia served as the Amanda Clearcreek neighborhood’s cheerleader as well. She was a talented student, but sadly the accident took her life far too young.

In memory of the Amanda student, the Sophie Strong Scholarship Fund was created.

Sophia Mazgay was a high school student who died following an accident on September 3, 2020. She was involved in a crash around noon at U.S. Route 22 and Sand Hill Road.

The tragic accident took the life of Sophie at the young age of 17. Her car collided with a dump truck, causing the crash. Though she was transported to Grant Medical Center, the doctors were not able to save her as she succumbed to her injuries.

Mazgay was a senior at Amanda-Clearcreek High School. She was an active student who was involved in various of the school’s projects and sporting events.

Sophia Mazgay Parents And Siblings

Sophia Mazgay was born to Pam Cottrill and Ted Mazgay on November 22, 2002, in Lancaster, Ohio.

At the time of her death, Mazgay’s parents were divorced and she lived with her mother and stepfather Mark Cottrill. She had two siblings, Colten and Chelsea, and two stepbrothers, Jason ,and Kaylem.

Mazgay was in a romantic relationship with a guy named Ethan Jacob Wolfe for some time. She was open about her boyfriend as she had mentioned that she was datingn Ethan on Facebook.

A celebration of Sophia’s life was held on September 12, 2020, at the Amanda-Clearcreek High School Gymnasium, and her funeral was also held on the same day.

Sophie Was A Softball Player At School

Sophie used to play softball at Amanda-Clearcreek High School. She was a brilliant player and a leader of her team.

The Amanda-Clearcreek High School team is called the Aces, and Sophie was one of the best players to come out of the school. Unfortunately, her career was cut short due to the tragic accident.

A week after her death, in a touching tribute, in the football game against Amanda-Clearcreek Athletics, the opponents Bloom-Caroll Athletic wore number 8 on their helmets and purple gears, her favorite color, honoring the life of Sophie Mazgay.

The Amanda-Clearcreek Athletic Boosters raised a fundraiser for Sophie’s family.
