Was TJ Finley Arrested On Attempt To Elude Charges
T.J. Finley, the quarterback for Auburn, was detained on Thursday in Auburn, Alabama, and charged with trying to avoid law enforcement. WRBL reports that Finley had a run-in with the Auburn Police Department before being arrested at the Lee County Detention Center.
As of Thursday afternoon, there was no further information available, and Auburn University has not yet issued an official statement on the topic beyond confirming that it is aware of the situation.
Originally committed to LSU, Louisiana-native Finley, 20, started five games for the squad in 2020. In a season in which he went 2-3, Finley completed 57.1 percent of his throws for 941 yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions.
In May 2021, he made the switch from LSU to Auburn, and he went on to play in nine games last season, starting three of them. Despite having a 0-3 record and completing only 54.7 percent of his passes, Finley threw for 827 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception.
Coming out of Ponchatoula High School, the 6’7″ quarterback was rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports. He was ranked 499th overall and 19th among pro-style quarterbacks in the 2020 class.
