Wendy Williams has been in the spotlight lately as she works to end her strict conservatorship. In a recent chat on The View, she honestly discussed her past battles with substance abuse.

During the discussion, she was asked about her current relationship with drugs and alcohol. Wendy confidently stated that she’s moved on.

“The relationship is fine and it’s wonderful because I’ve had my devices, and I have to tell you something, I am easily going on with my life alcohol-free for the rest of my life.”

She did, however, mention an alcohol slip last summer.

“When I got from Connecticut to New York, it was my birthday, July 18, and yes, I celebrated, you know what I’m saying?”

Even with this setback, she reassured viewers that she’s done with drinking for good.

“No more alcohol, thank you.”

While Wendy has been open about her challenges, many believe her guardianship is overly restrictive.

Ginalisa Monterroso, who was there with the hosts of The View, suggested that Wendy should be released from the conservatorship, pointing out that she showed no signs of incapacity. Williams agreed, saying,

“How dare they say I have incapacitation. I do not!”

She shared that she initially thought the guardianship would help protect her and her assets but now feels she was misled.

“I didn’t mind it at that time at all because it’s about my money and keeping my money safe, but at this point in my life, I want to terminate it.”

Wendy’s appearance on the show happened just days after she reportedly passed a psychological evaluation. Her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has claimed that Wendy is “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.”

Despite these assertions, Wendy remains hopeful and wrapped up her interview by promising to visit The View in person soon, showing her determination to take back control over her life.
