From 2006 to 2018, Celia, also known as Cecilia Gofton, represented the Pallion ward as a Labour councilor and was a part of the council’s cabinet. Sadly she passed away, and the cause of death has not been revealed yet.

The 44-year-old radio host of the morning show, who is representing the BBC at the Somerset festival, paid tribute to her mother in a heartfelt Instagram post.

The DJ expressed her “total grief” while saying that Celia was the “kindest and most tenacious person I have ever known.”

In the lengthy post, she continued by describing her mother’s life, from school to receiving care at UCLH. Cecilia was a superb mediator and persuader who was born in the center of nine children.

She thanked the “staff at UCHL who cared” for her mother and her family at the conclusion of her life as she put the post to rest.

Celia Gofton Age- How Old Was She When She Died?

Celia Gofton’s age has not been disclosed. However, based on her pictures we estimate that she could be in her late 60s.

According to Lauren, her mother met her father when she was 16 and adored him constantly. She said that being young in the 1960s was like the phrase in Mr. Tambourine Man, “to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,” and she ran the only reggae club night in the Northeast.

Celia supported herself through college by working as a seamstress and casino dancer (while also creating costumes for the troupe). She then excelled as a teacher and eventually oversaw all of Sunderland’s colleges.

As per Lauren’s tribute post, Celia had Lauren and her brother at some point, got involved in politics, protested at Greenham Common, and eventually was elected to the municipal council.
