After being diagnosed with breast cancer in early March, the journalist decided to have a double mastectomy to deal with her condition.

Sally had previous surgery to get a lump removed on her right breast not too long ago. However, her doctor advised her to have her right breast removed since they found some cancerous cells on the lump, although it was not malignant.

With a history of breast cancer claiming the life of her mother in her thirties, the 42-year-old decided not to take any chances and have both her breasts removed.

Therefore, the South Today co-presenter quit the show to prepare for her surgery in the late 90s.

Taylor did return for a few moments on BBC South Today, like filling in for Dorcas Henry when he collapsed live on air in 2003. She also hosted the South Today Debate on BBC One with Naga Munchetty, called the Spending Review in 2010 and was seen in BBC South News in 2020.

Although there has been no official announcement of her retirement, Sally Taylor is still on her healing journey and has not yet returned to Television yet.

However, she was recently seen paying tribute to the broadcasting legend Harry Gration on his sudden passing on her Twitter saying,

“Whatever wonderful memories you have of the warm, caring, much loved, and talented #HarryGration, treasure them! I know I will, and there has been so many #WhenHarryMetSally farewell, dear friend. Thinking of you, Helen x”

The two were really close to each other since they hosted the show South Today on BBC together from 1995 to 1999.

The co-presenter of BBC South Today has not yet fully recovered from her breast cancer from the 2000s and was reportedly admitted to the hospital for further treatments in April 2021.

Sally tweeted an update on her health in 2021, saying she is recovering after her stay in the hospital and has not given an update on her health afterward. So, we hope the journalist is doing well and taking care of herself.
