He participated in the 1993 Ryder Cup as well. In late 1995, he won the first Andersen Consulting World Championship.
Barry also had eight victories on the Legends Tour, which is the European version of the Champions Tour.
Known for the pure quality of his ball striking, Barry was a popular figure amongst his peers and fans.

Former Ryder Cup player Barry Lane is no more. He has taken his last breath at the age of 62.
The cause of Barry’s death is yet to be formally reported, though some accounts say he died after a “short illness.”
A flurry of heartfelt messages surfaced on social media in the wake of his death on December 31, 2022.
Ian Woosnam, former Master champion, summed up the feeling with his Twitter post, “Very, very sad news… RIP, my friend.”
Likewise, DP World Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley wrote a statement to tribute to Barry’s character and game.
“We are deeply saddened to hear about Barry Lane’s passing,” wrote the Canadian. He praised Barry’s success across the European Tour and Legends Tour, which showed his dedication to the game.
Keith added that everyone at the European Tour group sends their thoughts to Barry’s wife Camilla, the rest of the Lane family, and his many friends throughout the golfing world.
Similarly, Ewan Murray wrote, “What a sad way to start 2023. Barry was a joy to play golf with, the same to share his Company,” sending his best wishes to “those he’s left behind way too early.”
Beyond golf, former footballer and Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler said, “Rip Barry … an absolute legend of a bloke, will be sadly missed.”

Barry Douglas Lane was born in Hayes, Middlesex, England, but grew up in Bracknell.
Barry took up golf at 14 and became an assistant professional at Downshire Golf Club aged 16. He was an assistant at the club for eight years.
He was married and made an emotional trip to Mauritius with his wife, Camilla, last month. The trip was for the Legends Tour season-ending MCB Tour Championship.
Although very ill, Barry was able to say goodbye to his contemporaries and friends and to present the Rookie of the Year trophy, renamed in his honor, to Brazil’s Adilson Da Silva.
Fellow player Paul McGinley said he was the “sweetest guy to the very end” and attended despite being in very ill health, which “says a lot about his bravery and the close kinship and friendships we all form on tour.”
Barry leaves behind his wife Camilla and kids from his first marriage, Elliot, Emma, and Benjamin.
The PGA has extended their heartfelt condolences to them, his other family members, and a legion of friends.
