As a result of altitude sickness while on a retreat in the Tsum Valley, Lama Zopa Rinpoche passed away at Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 13th, 2023.

As he returned, Rinpoche stopped breathing, and despite sweats by the main croaker at Karuna Hospital, he could not be revived. His godliness, the Dalai Lama, was informed of Rinpoche’s passing and is providing guidance to his scholars and followers.

Rinpoche’s body has been in contemplation at Kopan Monastery, where lama guys and monks take turns in sessions offering prayers and pujas. Khadro- la, a close convert of Rinpoche, has advised his followers to use this time to exercise bodhicitta and meditate on evanescence in the environment of the lamrim, as well as fulfill Rinpoche’s holy wishes.

Why Lama Zopa Rinpoche Was Famous?
